How to convert WebP to PNG

Convert WebP images to PNG and keep every transparent pixel exactly where it was. It’s the best way to turn web graphics, stickers and logos into files that open in any editor, and the whole thing runs privately in your browser.

    1. Step 1

      Add your WebP images

Drop in .webp files saved from websites, design tools or messaging apps.

    2. Step 2

      Keep PNG as the output

PNG is pre-selected. There’s no quality slider because PNG is lossless.

    3. Step 3

      Convert

Press Convert to create a PNG for each image, transparency intact.

    4. Step 4

      Download

Save the PNGs one by one or grab the whole set as a ZIP.

Why choose PNG over JPG for WebP files

Many WebP images on the web aren’t photos at all: they’re logos, icons, illustrations, stickers and product cut-outs with transparent backgrounds. Converting those to JPG would fill the see-through parts with a solid color. PNG supports full transparency, including soft, semi-transparent edges, so the converted image drops onto any background exactly like the original.

PNG is also lossless, which makes it the safer choice if you’re going to edit the image: no further quality is lost each time you save it, and sharp edges and text stay crisp.

Where PNG works that WebP might not

    • Older desktop editors, presentation software and word processors that predate WebP.
    • Print and merchandise services (t-shirts, stickers, mugs) that ask for PNG with a transparent background.
    • Game engines, app stores and some content management systems with strict upload rules.
    • Email clients and older phones that show a broken image for WebP attachments.

    Size, animation and colors

PNG files are bigger than WebP, usually much bigger for photos, because WebP uses clever compression and PNG stores pixels exactly. For graphics with flat colors the gap is smaller. If the PNG turns out heavier than you’d like, Compress Image can shrink it by reducing the color count, often by more than half with no visible change on logos and illustrations.

Animated WebP files become a still PNG of their first frame, since PNG in browsers is a single image here. Colors are kept in the standard sRGB space used across the web.

For photos where you don’t need transparency, WebP to JPG gives a far smaller file that opens everywhere.

    Nothing leaves your device

The converter runs in your browser tab. The WebP is decoded and written out as PNG locally, so there’s no upload, no server copy and no limit on how many images you convert. It works offline once the page has loaded, too.

Check the resolution before you print

Web graphics are often only a few hundred pixels across, which looks sharp on screen but soft on paper. As a rough guide, printing at good quality needs about 300 pixels per inch, so a 3-inch sticker wants an image around 900 pixels wide. Converting to PNG keeps the existing pixel dimensions; it can’t add detail. If the WebP you saved is small, look for a larger original from the source, such as the brand’s press kit or the artist’s own files, before you convert.

For on-screen use, like slides, documents and social posts, small graphics are usually fine as they are.

    Frequently asked questions

Does converting WebP to PNG keep transparency?

Yes. PNG supports full transparency, including semi-transparent edges, so transparent areas stay transparent.

    Is there any quality loss?

No new loss is added, because PNG is lossless. The PNG is an exact copy of the WebP image as displayed.

Why is the PNG file so large?

WebP uses efficient compression while PNG stores every pixel exactly. Use Compress Image to shrink the PNG, or convert to JPG if you do not need transparency.

Can I convert animated WebP to PNG?

The first frame is saved as a still PNG. The tool marks animated files so you know only one frame is kept.

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

Choose PNG for logos, graphics, screenshots and anything with transparency. Choose JPG for photos when a small file matters more.

Are my images sent to a server?

No. Conversion happens in your browser and your images never leave your device.

Can I use the PNG for printing stickers or t-shirts?

Yes, as long as the original WebP has enough pixels for the print size. Converting keeps the same dimensions, so a small web graphic will not become sharper for large prints.
