WhatsApp’s sticker requirements

• Size: exactly 512 × 512 pixels.
• Format: WebP with a transparent background.
• Margin: 16 pixels of empty space on every side.
• File size: under 100 KB for a still sticker.
• Pack size: at least 3 and at most 30 stickers, plus a 96 × 96 tray icon.

The tool handles the first four automatically. It searches for the highest WebP quality that still fits under 100 KB, so stickers stay sharp. If a sticker with lots of fine detail cannot get under the limit, the card tells you; a thinner outline or turning off the shadow usually solves it.

Getting them into WhatsApp

On recent versions of WhatsApp that include the sticker creator, you can make a sticker straight from an image: open a chat, tap the sticker icon, choose Create and pick one of your downloaded files. Because our image is already cut out, you can skip WhatsApp’s own background removal. To bundle many stickers into a named pack, sticker-pack apps for Android and iPhone accept a folder of WebP files like the ones in the ZIP.

WhatsApp Web and the desktop app can also create stickers from an uploaded image. Whichever route you use, the files you import came from your own device.

Making stickers that read well in a chat

Stickers appear small on screen, so faces and simple shapes work better than wide scenes. Crop tight around the subject before adding it, using Crop Image if the photo has lots of empty space. Strong expressions, raised paws and clear gestures make the most popular stickers.

The white outline and shadow are not just decoration: they separate the sticker from WhatsApp’s chat wallpaper, which can be any color. Without an outline, dark subjects disappear on dark mode.

Planning a complete pack

A pack feels finished when its stickers share a style. Use the same outline thickness and color for all of them, and photograph subjects at a similar distance so faces end up roughly the same size inside the square. Process the whole set in one batch: the settings apply to every photo, and the ZIP keeps the files together and named after your originals.

Think about the moments people actually react to in a chat: thumbs up, laughing, surprised, sleepy, celebrating. Five or six expressions from one person or pet are often more useful than thirty random shots. You will also need a small tray icon for the pack; most sticker-pack apps create it from your first sticker automatically.

Your photos stay private
